Family history is about
so much more than
names and dates.

It is about the lives behind them … where people came from, how they lived, the choices they made and the journeys that shaped your family.

About

I’m a writer, researcher, and storyteller with extensive journalistic experience and more than 20 years of personal family history research. Over that time, I have traced my own family through records, archives, and historical documents, developing a deep understanding of the care, curiosity, and persistence essential for family history research.

My background in journalism has shaped the way I approach this work – asking questions, weighing evidence, finding detail, and turning information into stories that are clear, engaging, and meaningful.

I enjoy helping people go beyond names and dates to better understand the lives and experiences of the families who came before them. Whether it is researching a family line, exploring migration or social history, interpreting old records, or turning existing research into a readable narrative – I bring both strong research skills and a storyteller’s eye.

Qualifications

In 2024, I completed a Certificate of Genealogical Research with the Society of Australian Genealogists, graduating with distinction. I have also completed several UK family history courses in genealogy methods, probate records, nonconformity, crime and punishment, and parish and workhouse archives. I am also a member of the Society of Genealogists in the UK.

My work is evidence-based, thoughtful, and story-led, with a focus on creating family histories that are both accurate and meaningful.
